Here is my first response for the novel, Private by Kate Brian. I am going to talk about the character that I like/dislike. In the story the main character is named Reed Brennan. I thought that Reed was an alright character. I didn't like how she was so obsessed with being one of the "Billings Girls" that it was all she thought about. She seemed very shallow because all she thought about was how she had to improve her social status and how she had to be friends with the beautiful, snobby, mean Billings Girls. She even talked to her boyfriend Thomas about them. Even Thomas who was very popular thought that the Billings Girls were a BAD idea but he wanted her to be happy so he let her do what she wanted. She was a good character when the Billings Girls told her to spike a teachers coffee she finally stood up for herself and said NO. This shows that she was a strong character who chose to be weak. Despite the fact that she is a shallow, unindependent character, you can't help but like the character.

ReplyDeletehahah thats a little bit harsh don't you think? she was unindependant, she had a really bad life at home with virtually no friends and her mother was awful to her. All she wanted was a better life with some more friends so she did what she had to do.... plus if she didn't want to be a billings girl so badly there would be no story. Other than that it was good (Y)
